king family portraits - knoxville photography

now that i'm done editing holiday sessions it's time to finish up some other projects and sessions.  so i'm finally starting to catch up on blogs here!  so here it goes...

every so often i like to try new places for our sessions… and this just happened to be one of those days!

it was perfect timing, since {quentin} (aka, lil q man) was turning 1 year old!  we met up in {world’s fair park} so we could get some outdoor images but unfortunately the weather was not so pretty.  it was a pretty cloudy day which can be good for lighting, but not so good for pretty blue sky backgrounds!  :\

nevertheless we made it work and the results are amazing!!!!  probably some of my favorite family pictures EVER!

i love this little guy!!!!!  now look how excited he was to be given the remote!  i guess it’s the simple things in life that make us this happy sometimes.

then we actually met again on another (thankfully sunny) day at the family farm to test out the ol’ barn… and boy was i happy with those too!!!  :)

and in case you hadn't noticed... for some reason i just love playing with sun flares in my images.  depending on the image, it can add some edge or even romance.

i hope to be taking pictures of this lil’ guy for many years to come!  (ya hear that trent & valerie!!?)

b real photo participates in images for a cure – knoxville area photography

as most of you know we participated in {images for a cure} about a month ago.  we had two sessions that day... it was so much fun and I was exhausted by the time we got home!

we were able to give $100 toward the cause and hope to give 5 times that next year!  collectively, all the participating photographers were able to generate over $12,000!!!!

our first session was with our friend whitney and her family.  they were so funny and I had so much fun doing their family portraits.  here are a couple of my favs…

our second session was with crissy and her fiancĂ© (now hubby!) john.  it was really important to crissy to participate in this event since a very close friend of hers was taken by breast cancer.  so I wanted to make the session special for them as well.  since their wedding was only a couple weeks away I used the opportunity to do their engagement photos.  the results were amazing…

the great news is that images for a cure will be an annual event!  we are so excited to be a part of this!!

mark your calendars for next year... once the day (in october) is announced we will post this on our websites and blog.  100% of the session fees of the specified day will go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®.  details on this year’s can be found {here}.  who knows what we’ll come up with next year!

senior portraits – anderson county high school - clinton area photography

so if you live anywhere near knoxville, you are probably over the rain.  I know I am!!

I’d scheduled a senior session with a sweet young lady and we had to keep rescheduling because of the weather.  so, as the wonderful marine corps taught me so well… I was ready to adapt and overcome!  haha.  so I came up with some brilliant ideas to do in the rain!  I was so excited.

finally we decided to move forward despite the weather, but she ended up being scheduled to work!!!  argh!!  but being the winner she is, she arranged to take an extended break for us to do a mini session.  we even had her mom keeping us updated on time… “15 more minutes!”… “5 more minutes!”…

I literally snapped pictures until the last minute and we were on our way!  it was probably the most rushed session I’ve ever had but the results are incredible.  obviously esther is photogenic and her sweet personality shows in her images.

hope you enjoy…

thanks esther for going out of your way to make this happen!!!  :)

pink saturday with b real photo - knoxville area event photography

as you know i was privileged to photograph the {Pink Saturday} event a few weeks ago.  this was a great way to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month!

the event was put together by the Franklin Square Merchants Association as a way for every business in Franklin Square to participate in bringing awareness and raising money for both the Knoxville affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Cathy L. Hodges Memorial Cancer Foundation.

i literally had sessions before and after the event that day so i dropped by for a couple hours.  it was great meeting all the folks that were generous enough to donate their time, money, and efforts.

we also donated a free session that was given away in the drawing.  looking forward to doing that as well!  :)

below are just a few images from that day... thankfully the rain held out for us!

i'll be sure to keep you updated on any events like these that we know learn about or are participating in so keep a close eye on our blog!

if you have a charity or fundraiser event that could use our services or a donation for drawings, raffles, or auctions, please do not hesitate to contact us.  while we cannot participate in every event we are happy to help where we can!

justin + stacy - b real photo - powell area photography

meet justin + stacy.

stacy is a long time friend of my husband's and after we moved to tennessee a year ago we ran into them at walmart, only to discover justin + stacy live only a mile from us!!! furthermore, stacy goes to the same gym as us! i love these "small world" scenarios! :)

we photographed justin + stacy at this abandoned building and cute little downtown area i just love. i think it reminds me of home somehow.

what is neat about this couple is to see the dynamic between them. stacy is definitely the outspoken, energetic, adventurous type while justin is a little more quiet and laid back.

stacy would probably win the award among my clients for having the most ideas for poses. it was hilarious... she even attempted to climb a tree. needless to say, we had a lot of fun that day.

even ended it with our favorite chinese restaurant. doesn't get much better than that! i have a new found love for a certain noodle on the buffet there. haha.
so i'll share some of my favorite iamges from the day with you... enjoy!

an eye opening day

well this isn't my regular kind of blog post... i'm not announcing some exciting promotion or images from a successful session...

i've had an interesting week to say the least regarding my own health.  yesterday i was in quite a bit of pain after having a biopsy on my leg.  sulking in my own pitiful moment i decided to have lunch with my hubby before i headed home to lay down and elevate my leg.

just before i reached my honey i received an unexpected phone call from the area coordinator for an organization called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.  she informed me of a family in need of my services.

immediately i forgot my own pain and my thoughts turned to this family that was dealing with so much more than a little pain on their leg.  this young couple had just given birth to twins, a boy and a girl, but their precious daughter had unexpectedly gone to be with Jesus.

as quickly as i could i hobbled my way up to the NICU at UT Hospital.  the moment i stepped into the family's room all my pains were forgotten.

i met the parents, grandparents, and other close relatives.  it was obvious this family was dealing with a lot of grief.  the grandmother was holding this precious baby girl and fighting back the tears.

i sat down and talked to the family for a few minutes, introducing myself and letting them know what to expect from me.  we soon began our own little portrait session, including all the family members and even hospital staff.

i feel so honored that i could be a small part in this family's day of both joy and grief.  the family was incredibly thankful and the nurses were so sweet and helpful.  i was able to capture some truly intimate images that this family will be able to treasure forever.

days like this really remind you of what's important in life.

marie's senior portraits - maryville high school

so maryville has again become one of my favorite places to do our sessions.

this was one of the first places i photographed after the move to tennessee because my wonderful friend megan is from there and was kind enough to model for me.

in case you don't remember the session i'm speaking of, you can read the blog about that session {here}.

so here i was again... this time with marie... i can't believe it has been 10 months since i was here!!!

no worries though, i already had a few spots in mind i wanted to be sure to capture...

if you missed my first blog about marie's session you can catch up {here}.

over the past year i’ve been hearing about something called the "green belt" in maryville that was supposedly this pretty park that winds thru the town.

marie and her dad were kind enough to walk us there and it was sooooo beautiful!!! it almost made me wish we lived in maryville!!

the park really does wind thru a big part of the town. it has huge grassy areas, benches, walkways, a stream... it's just beautiful!

so we took advantage of the beauty and got more images there.

i had also asked marie to bring her violin. she had played up until her senior year. looking back on my senior pictures i knew she would one day treasure images that captured something that was a big part of her school years.

so fortunately we had the perfect place to get those violin shots.... a STAGE!!!! right there in the park!!!! oh it was wonderful. :)

so all in all the session was great. marie was a natural.

if you ever have the chance to meet her, or if you know her and have never seen it, have her show you the trick she can do with her eyebrows!!! hee hee.

thanks marie!!

p.s. - be sure to check out how you can get $ paid $ thru our referral program!! all the details are right --> here <--
