lindsay & jeremy - downtown knoxville photo session

Well once again here I am blogging way later than I planned. I promise I’m getting better though! :)

Shawn (my wonderful husband and partner) has encouraged me to give you guys and gals a broader selection of my images by posting different images to my blog than those on facebook and our website. I promise I’ll try but my absolute favs just might appear on both!! I’m not sure if I can resist!

So I already told you about my quest to find the mystery wall in Knoxville. (if you missed that one scroll down!) Lindsay and Jeremy’s images turned out even better than I imagined. It was so hard choosing my favorites!!! If you’ll notice I’ve got them scattered all over, some on our facebook page, others on our website (Lindsay is now the first image you see!) and now here on our blog. I’m trying really hard to follow Shawn’s advice.

This session has definitely given me some of my new favorite places to shoot! The backgrounds are amazing. If you know me, you know I love bright colors and high contrast black and whites. That is certainly what I got!...

If you want to see all of Lindsay & Jeremy’s images they are on our proofing site (click here).

We love your comments so leave them!

Thanks so much Lindsay & Jeremy!! You guys are awesome!!

an adventure with nature... capturing knoxville in photography

so we finally had a weekend without a road trip planned... it was great to have a weekend in knoxville, tennessee and boy was it beautiful!!!!

i was so excited to have a whole weekend with my wonderful husband, shawn. we seriously have so much fun together. he really is my best friend and we do a lot of laughing at our house!!!

this weekend we invited our friends, jacob and holly, to go hiking with us. we went to the ijams nature center just outside of downtown knoxville. it was so nice to see how green and vibrant everything was there... the only other time i had visited was in the dead of winter and the place honestly looked kinda scary.

so i was like a kid with uncontainable excitement once we got started (obviously)...

i think jacob and holly are a great couple. you know how you can just tell by the way a couple interacts how great they are together? (i'd like to think people see that in me and shawn!) not only do they seem like a great couple together, but they are each individually great people and i really enjoyed spending time with them saturday.

jacob and shawn were in boy scouts together and go waaaaay back. we have already resolved to spend more time with them!!!

i tried to capture images along our hike. these are just a few of my favorites. :)

after it was all said and done we all went for ice cream... Mmmm... it was so worth it. :)

so folks, be sure to leave a comment. i love to hear from you guys and what you get out of my posts and even your likes/dislikes in the images.

i found the mystery wall!!! - knoxville photography

so if you have talked to me in the last few weeks you know i've been searching all over creation for this amazing wall i keep seeing in photographs!!!!

shawn and i drove around for an hour trying to find the thing the other day. i knew i had a session scheduled with my beautiful personal trainer (Lindsay @ the The Rush... she rocks!!) and i knew how amazing she would look in front of this colorful wall!!!

so shawn and i drove all over old city and up and down gay street searching for what i called "the mystery wall"... finally we gave up and went home for the night. i called my friend alex, who had his engagement photos taken there and was able to get some idea of where it was.

so this morning we decide to give it another shot and arrive 30 minutes earlier than our session to try to find it again. we parked right in the area where alex had told us it was and of course we found it in no time!!!! i was soooooo excited.

after i got to thinking about it, i remembered an exact moment while shawn and i were driving around... twice we drove down this one particular street and i thought i saw something... barely... out of the corner of my eye... just a slither of color... noooo that can't be it...

yup. that was it. again, i'm reminded to trust my instincts and quit doubting myself!!!! :)

anyway, our session with lindsay and jeremy was a breeze! they are both so photogenic!!! anyway, i thought i would share one image with you just to give you a taste of the mystery wall and our beautiful subjects...

be sure to check back often for more images!!! :)

life is so sweet - knoxville newborn photography

so i finally had my first newborn session a few weeks ago and it was a dream!! afterward i decided he was probably the best subject i ever had... he slept almost the whole time and i was able to move him around as much as i wanted. i must admit, i felt like he was so delicate and i tried to be so careful with him! i look back at my images and see where i should have maneuvered him a bit more... but that's just me critiquing myself!

baby wade had the cutest lil' nose and the longest legs! such an adorable family all together. jack, the 2 year old big brother kept me entertained the entire time... literally the entire 2 hours i was in their home jack was singing the song "rocky top". it was probably one of the cutest things i have ever witnessed.

now i'm super excited about doing more newborn/baby sessions... i keep coming up with new ideas that i wanna try out!! so if you have a little one or will soon, we would be honored to capture images of your little miracle!!!

hope you enjoy some of my favorite images from the day...

where i grew up... rural north carolina photography

some of you may know i grew up on a farm... mainly a peach farm. my mom and dad have always been hard workers and now in dad's "retirement" from the corporate arena, he seems to be even busier and work even harder! but at least he gets to be his own boss now. :)

it has become my mission to get them up to speed with today's social media... they have a website (which is still in the works... www.thompsonorchards.com) and a facebook page!!!! i'm so proud. haha.

on our last trip to nc we had such a great visit. i got to see a lot of my family and have a great visit with my parents. usually our trips are so rushed we just can't possibly fit everyone in. but this trip was a lot more laid back.

i took the time to capture my dad in the peach orchard. he has two orchards, one of which is right next to the house. my dad had lots of peaches to pick that day so i took the time to catch him in action. the results were amazing!

i hope you appreciate my favorite images as much as i do! it was such an honor to be able to do this for my dad. i hope he enjoyed it and likes the images as much as i do. <3>be sure to leave a comment. :)

WHAT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!...

well it's that time you've all been waiting for...

time to announce our big surprise...

we've had so many exciting things happening lately and this has been so hard for us to keep secret!! i personally think this is probably the first thing i have EVER been able to keep from everyone (except shawn of course).

i've had friends and family calling, texting, emailing, facebook-ing, and literally hounding me in person! it actually became quite funny.

my friend whitney commented on facebook and i thought this was hilarious so i just have to share:
there's a bar in memphis that has painted on the side of it "Free Hamburgers Tomorrow." so, even when you come "tomorrow" the free hamburgers are still another day away... i'm beginning to feel the same way about this "surprise"
while we aren't giving away hamburgers, we ARE giving away other things...

so are you ready!???...

she's a diva! - knoxville area photography

i asked my friend, chastity, to model for me one day recently (she's a diva!)... who knew we would laugh so much and have such a good time!?

we met up in west knoxville so we could ride together and hit up a few spots i had found and wanted to try. so off we were...

i love somewhat sneaking around to find great spots. hee hee.

we started behind a small shopping center and got some really great shots there. it was neat because there were no distractions since we were completely hidden from the road and any shoppers. but we also got a little silly back there!

so then we headed over to an abandoned car shop... the building was painted BRIGHT yellow and i thought it would make for an interesting backdrop. while we were there we got approached by a mechanic at a next door business who asked if we needed a male model. HA!!! sometimes you just need a little ego boost like that... right ladies??

anyway, while at this location i was able to find
my image... usually on every shoot i end up with one absolutely amazing photograph... and here it is...

then we hit one more spot... a closed down japanese restaurant. too bad they weren't open! i LOVE japanese food and we had worked up an appetite by the time we were done. :) here's a couple shots from that location...

needless to say it was a fun and productive day. and i've already booked another session with chastity and a friend of hers.
